Darren joined Waveney Youth in 1982 playing 3 seasons under Terry Underdown winning the league each season, then playing under the late Morris Woods for a further 3 seasons where he won managers player trophies before moving on.

Darren's football career went from strength to strength playing for various teams including Gorleston, Kirkley and Lowestoft Town.
