Waveney 2 Blofield Utd 1
Waveney recovered from a poor first half and conceding an early goal to take all three points in our final game at Saturn Close this season.Blofield have several games in hand on us so it was vital we took all three points if we wanted to have a chance of remaining above them.Waveney got off to the worst possible start as Blofield opened the scoring in the opening minute. A cross from the left was turned into his own net by the unfortunate High giving Bergin no chance.Waveney tried to respond but the play from both teams was scrappy. In fact both teams seemed to give more effort to moaning at team mates as tempers frayed in hot conditions. Waveney needed something to kick start them and they ended the half well.A fine cross from Bloomfield saw Jarvis just fail to connect after arriving at the far post .Waveney kept the pressure up and grabbed the equaliser on 43 minutes as High did well to head the ball back at the far post. Sam Clay forcing the ball over the line from close range. Waveney came out after the break and started to dominate with Swan holding the ball up well for the home side.Waveney had to make an early change with Daniel Tacon replacing Harley Peek after an injury to our left back.Adam Taylor moving across with Tacon partnering High in the centre of defence.Anthony Etheridge who had again performed well was withdrawn through an injury being replaced by Ryan Davies.Carl Burgess became the first Waveney player to be booked as the referee deemed his strong tackle to be a foul.Adam Taylor was then booked for showing his frustration by kicking the ball away before Waveney made there final change with Mawford replacing Swan for the final 15 minutes.Waveney did take the lead on 77 minutes with a fine solo goal from Adam Taylor. After picking the ball up just inside the half a great run riding several challenges before cutting inside and curling home a right foot shot from just inside the box.Waveney could have added a third but the Blofield keeper made a fine save from Clay who looked like grabbing his second goal after a left foot strike.Waveney comfortably saw out the remainder of the game to secure the win.Two games remaining now away to Harleston and then next tuesday our final home game against St Andrews. This game will take place at The Amber Dew Events Stadium the home of Lowestoft Town fc with a 6.45pm ko.We thank Lowestoft for kindly letting us play the game and entry to the match will be free.Lowesstoft Town have also agreed that our Under 18 team will also be playing all there home games there next season. This will be the first time that we will have an U18 team playing in the league after being given a place in The Thurlow Nunn league for next season. This is fantastic news for the club and gives those young players the chance to keep playing together for Waveney and continue there development and will benefit our Senior team in the future.
