This afternoon the Vixens were invited to be ball girls for the match between Lowestoft Town Ladies and MK Dons Ladies. Last week the same two teams had met at Willen Road where MK Dons won the match 12-0.
Despite the cold and drizzle, Maddie Archbold, Rysia Arlow, Charlea Flatt, Millie Fountain, Caitlin Gadney, Ellie Moore, Samantha Peak and Mimi Wescott all turned out to watch Abbie Everson and her team mates play the return fixture at Crown Meadow.
The match started with MK Dons looking set to pick up where they left off last week.
Lowestoft appeared to play a 4-5-1 formation which meant their striker often found herself alone facing 3 defenders and unable to break through for any chances on goal or find a pass to lay it off and get back into space, especially as many of the goal kicks bypassed the midfield completely. This allowed the Dons to intercept the ball as soon as it passed into their half and take it back into Lowestoft territory.
By half time the score was 0-5 with two of the goals scored in the closing minutes as the girls lost a bit of focus.
The Lowestoft girls didn't give up though and the second half was a lot more goal-parched as they battled to keep the Dons from increasing their lead, succeeding in holding them just two more goals for the second 45 minutes.
The final score was 0-7. The Lowestoft girls came off the pitch smiling in spite of this and the Vixens came away having enjoyed an afternoon watching one of our own girls out on the field.
