Club set to mark anniversary season in style

A popular football club is marking a special anniversary in style – with a series of events to commemorate the occasion.
Waveney FC will be celebrating their 40th anniversary this season with a summer ball at the Ivy House Hotel on July 6 and a community fun day, in partnership with McDonalds, on July 22.

A club spokesman said: “To acknowledge this significant event in the club’s history, we are looking for 40 children – boys or girls – to represent the club next season at U7, who we would like to still be wearing the club colours of Gold and Black when the club celebrates it’s golden anniversary in 10 years time.

“If you are interested in becoming part of this unique experience and you are have not reached seven by August 31, 2018 please join us at The Saturday Football Club this Saturday morning at Barnards Meadow from 10am to join in the fun throughout the summer and have the opportunity to be selected for one of our teams.”

Club chairman Shane Davey added: “Waveney FC is celebrating its 40th anniversary, which is a real testament to the dedication of its founder the late Brian Gallagher and all its volunteers both past and present.

“The club continues to thrive and go from strength to strength.......here's to the next 40 years.”

The club is also keen to encourage anyone who would like the opportunity to join the coaching staff to get in contact. Those interested will be provided with full support to help gain your coaching badges.

If you would like further information about the anniversary ball, fun day, playing or coaching, please leave a message on the Waveney FC Facebook page or email waveneyfc@gmail.com
