15. Recruitment of Volunteers - Policy and Procedures

Why volunteers are needed

Like almost every community group, we rely on volunteers to run and oversee the club, without volunteers the club would simply not exist and many young boys and girls would not get the football every week that we provide.

There is no such thing as a stereotypical volunteer, at Waveney F.C. we have volunteers who work in shops, schools, offices, factories, holiday camps, banks, off-shore industry, self employed workers, local authority employees, police officers and many more professions as well as stay at home mums / dads and those who have retired, in fact from almost every walk of life, but the one thing which brings us all together is that we are passionate about football and want to give something back to the local community and in particular to the young people within that community.

Whether you are looking to fill a few hours at the weekend, during the week or make a major contribution, we would love to hear from you.
Listed below are a number of areas in the club that you could get involved in:

Volunteers fulfil a very wide range of roles in many community sports clubs. They are often indispensable to the success of the club.
Volunteers help to:

Organise events
Coach
Manage the money

Social Club

Fundraising
As you can see, there are such a wide range of roles within the club that i am sure we can find a role for you, all we ask is that you can spare some time and energy and enjoy what you are doing.

Why do people volunteer?
Typically, volunteers cite a range of motives with one or two of the following being most important:

Put something back” into the sport
Support family member
Feel valued
Influence others
Gain status
Have fun
Achieve something tangible etc.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer then please contact us and we will get in touch with you to discuss this further.
You will be given a clear defined role and get support from the committee members and others within the club.
